Sorry guys, I've had a terrible case of writers block the past week and a half. First was Mothers Day then my mom's birthday and I nearly forgot about Memorial Day...*digresses*
Anyway...
Chap. 10.
Meg leaned against the door leading into the king's quarters. A hero, she thought as an idea started forming in her mind. Maybe she could escape the palace after all. She could certainly use his help but he would never help a stranger. She shook her head, it would never work. Would it? If Creon caught her...She thought about the king's temper when she had forgotten to have breakfast with him. A shiver went down her spine, thinking about what the king would do to her if she tried to run away.
She closed her eyes, I'm not going to get caught. I have to get us out of here. A man like Creon didn't deserve an heir, certainly not from a woman such as her mother. But Meg knew that she was running out of time before the baby was born. By then, it would be to late. It was one thing to run away with her mother, but an infant? No, that would be far too risky.
The time to act was now.
She felt the door give way behind her and grabbed the door jam to keep from falling into the room. She looked up and saw Creon glaring down at her. Although she was standing at her full height (she was tall for her age), the king still towered over her.
Meg forced a smile, "Good morning, Your Highness. I was just looking for Sir Hercules. I would like to give him a tour of the palace."
Creon was about to scold her for eavesdropping when Herc appeared from behind the king's large frame, glad to have an excuse to escape the uneasiness he felt in the king's presence. He also didn't mind spending some time with the young maiden.
"We would love to." He looked at the king, "If it's alright with you."
Creon nodded his head, sending a warning glance at Meg who still had a fake smile glued to her face.
"Great!" She exclaimed, grabbing Herc's wrist and pulling him down the hallway with Phil at his heels.
Creon closed the door and ran a hand over his face. How annoying that girl was! Well, at least he had a few hours of peace. He walked to his desk and started to make a list of the people he wanted to attend the feast tonight. When he was finished, he leaned back in his chair and put his feet up on the desk. He would send his servants to invite the people on his list, then he would have to talk to the cook about the menu. But all that could wait until later. His thoughts drifted back to Meg and how he was going to get rid of her. In his mind, it was pretty simple. This was the year that he would start bringing suiters to meet with her. If she refused to pick one, he would force her. A smile crept onto his face. If she still doesn't pick one, I'll pick one for her.
Creon got up and looked out the second floor window, onto the garden. It was beautiful outside and the weather lightened his spirits. Even more so, he saw Meg talking with the great hero. From where he stood, it looked like she was flirting with him. Although he couldn't hear what they were saying, he saw that she smiled at him. A real smile, not the one she had earlier.
But as soon as she saw that he was watching, the smile vanished. She took Herc by the arm and led him back inside the palace.
Creon closed the window, hoping he didn't ruin their conversation. He didn't mind Hercules wooing her. It would save him time and energy trying to find suiters willing to put up with her sarcastic and disrespectful attitude her mother called a 'personality'. He sat back down at his desk. There was work to be done.
End Chap. 10.
This chapter is a lot longer than I thought it would be. Hope you like it!
P.S. I saw the Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian last Friday. That movie rocked!!

Chap. 11.
Meg pulled Herc by the wrist out of the king's quarters and down the hallway before Creon could change his mind. The last thing she needed was for him to ruin her plan before it even began.
She also had to think of a way to get rid of the goat-man. He made it obvious that he was not fond of her as she led them through the many rooms on the ground floor of the palace; giving her sharp looks whenever she made a comment about the artwork of the palace to his pupil. Herc, on the other hand, seemed to take interest in everything she had to say. She even saw him stealing shy glances in her direction. She pretended not to notice, but smiled despite herself.
She brought them into the kitchen, "And this is the kitchen." She walked up to one of the cub-boards and opened it wide, revealing several shelves packed with food. She could see the satyr licking his lips out of the corner of her eye. "Help yourself." Phil didn't need much encouraging. He immediately started to pick out his favorites which were pretty much anything he could fit in his hands.
Once he was distracted, Meg gestured for Herc to follow her. He hesitated, looking back at Phil. She rolled her eyes, taking him by the hand and out the back door, leading to the garden.
"Lovely day, isn't it?" She said as they walked, trying to sound casual. If she asked him outright to help her he would probably say 'no'. But if he warmed up to her and she asked him. He might just consider it. "Sorry to leave your friend but...I didn't want to disturb him."
"Yeah, Phil can go a bit overboard sometimes." He glanced back at the house, "Are you sure you don't mind?"
Meg shook her head and looked around the garden, making sure that they were alone. She knew that the goat-man would realize that they were gone and start searching for them which meant she might only have a few minutes alone with the hero. She had to ask him now. She took a deep breath.
"Hercules?" She stood a few feet in front of him, a calm expression on her face,"The real reason I brought you out here is because...i'm in need of your services." She hoped she used the right words. If she didn't, he might just think she was crazy.
Herc felt his face redden, "Excuse me?"
"I hear that you are a well known hero in Thebes, so I was hoping that you would help me." She watched his face relax and was surprised at how boyish he looked. He obviously had mistaken her intentions.
He cleared his throat, "I'll be more than happy to assist you, ma'am." He said in an authoritative voice. To Meg, it just made him look more boy-like, "What seems to be the problem?"
Meg chose her words carefully, no need to give him details, "My mother and I are very unhappy with the king and here, at the palace. He's very cruel to us. In fact, it's more like a...prison." She lowered her head, for effect. "I was hoping you could help us."
Herc looked at the palace. He wasn't fond of the king himself but he didn't think he was a bad person. "But I saw you in town today. Why didn't you run away then?"
Meg looked away, "We have nowhere else to go. If we ran away the king would catch us before we could make it past the city walls." She raised her violet eyes to meet his. "Will you help us?"

I hate to leave you guys in suspense. Chap. 12. Herc pondered her words for a moment. He couldn't just say 'no'. She was a damsel in distress! Then again, he had never done anything hero-related without Phil's consent. "Maybe if I talked with my trainer..." The hopeful expression on Meg's face vanished, "NO!" She said, raising her voice. Seeing the alarmed look on his face, she quickly added, "Uh, he might inform the king. Don't tell anyone. "Phil's my friend, I trust..." "Well, I don't." She retorted, starting to get impatient. She took another deep breath, "No offense to you, Great Hero. But I would feel much safer if you kept this just between us." She smiled at him, again. "Please." Herc sat on one of the stone benches, thinking. She was about to sit next to him when she noticed one of the second-floor windows open. She saw the king stick his head out and look down at the garden. Then directly at them! "Maybe you should think about this inside." She wrapped her arm around his and ushered a puzzled Hercules back inside the palace, gently closing the door behind them. She then turned to him, "Have you made a decision?" "I don't know..." Herc started. "Kid, there you are! I bin' lookin' all over this palace for you." An angry satyr marched up to them, pointedly ignoring Meg. "Where have you been?" Herc glanced at Meg, who was pleading with her eyes for him not to tell about her request. "Meg was just showing me the garden. It is quite beautiful." Phil slapped a hand on his forehead. This kid had a lot to learn! He decided to let it slide, for now. "Come on. We got a lot of work to do." He started walking to-wards the door, expecting Herc to follow. Before he could, however, he felt Meg grip his hand. "It was nice meeting you, Great Hero." When she was sure that Phil wouldn't see, she pulled him close enough to whisper in his ear. "Meet me tonight before dinner, in the garden. With your answer." She released his hand and left the blushing hero, confident that she had gotten her point across. --- Meg walked into her room and immediately started to pack her belongings. She packed just enough to fit in her travel bag: two dresses, a brush, an extra pair of sandals. Afterward, she laid down on her bed and stared at the ceiling, running the plan through her mind over and over again. It wasn't exactly fail-proof but she didn't have time to think of another one. Herc would be gone by tomorrow and if she didn't try now, it would just be another wasted opportunity. She let herself fall into a pleasant sleep. --- Herc felt as if he were daydreaming. He let Phil pull him to various locations to meet with fans and politicians. He signed autographs and even let some of the fan-girls feel his muscles (as long as there was security around to keep them from tearing his arm off). And yet, he couldn't stop thinking about Meg. His mind was telling him to ask Phil for his permission but for some reason, he didn't. Probably because he knew that Phil didn't like her and would tell the king. He shook his head, I didn't promise her I wouldn't tell, did I? I barely even know her. But he kept silent as the royal chariot carried them back to the palace.
