Before anyone asks, this fanfic does not have a title yet. I plan on naming it after I finish writing it. Okay? Good.
On with the story!
Chap. 6.
Meg put her bags down and leaned against a pillar outside the store. Maria sat on one of the steps, putting on some of the jewelry they bought.
"Ready to go home," She said as she locked the clasp behind her neck.
"Not yet." Meg watched the crowds go by, lost in thought.
Maria started looking through their bags, "Oh, dear. I think I left my bracelet inside. I'll be right back." She went into the store, leaving Meg to her thoughts.
But they were interrupted by a small voice, "Excuse me." Meg looked down to a little girl standing on the step below her. She looked about ten with brown eyes and hair tied in pigtails. She held the hand of a little boy half her age with the same color hair and eyes.
"Can you spare some change so I can buy a present for my brother. It's his birthday." Meg couldn't help but smile at the children. She had often begged for money when she lived in France, usually getting no response from the people who walked past. Or worse, getting a sharp slap across the face in response.
Meg reached in her purse and was about to give them the coins when someone shouted , "Thief!" She looked up just in time to see a man running toward her. She pulled the kids out of the way and watched as the man tripped over her shopping bags, landing shoulder first on the concrete. The man groaned, rolling onto his back.
She walked over to the man. He wore dark clothing and was carrying a woman's purse. "Uh, sorry about that," She said, helping him to his feet, "I shouldn't have left my...hey!" The man pulled on her purse, causing the strap to break. Before he could run, she grabbed his cloak.
"Give that back!" She yelled at him. The man turned around and swung a fist at her. Meg ducked and pulled harder. Where's the police when you need them? she thought.
~a few steps away~
Hercules had chased the thief for what seemed like an eternity. The thief obviously knew his way around Thrace better than he did; every time Herc would catch up, the thief would slip down another ally and he would almost lose him. 'Never Give Up' was one of the top ten 'Hero Rules' Phil had taught him but Herc was starting to think about stopping before he got even more lost in the large city.
He had lost the thief again and was about to give up when he noticed a commotion outside one of the stores. He looked over the heads of the onlookers and was surprised when he saw a young woman pulling a man with one hand and hitting him with a shopping bag with the other. He recognized the man as the thief and stepped forward.
"Alright, take it!" The man yelled, throwing both purses at Meg. She caught them and let the man disappear into the crowd. She could hear a round of applause come from the small crowd that had formed around her. She gave a bow and started gathering her things, putting her purse in one of the shopping bags. Meg held the other purse up.
"Does this belong to someone?" She called.
"Uh, actually...," a voice said behind her.
Meg turned around to face the owner of the voice. He was a tall, handsome young man with red hair and blue eyes. Because of his long cape she couldn't see much else.
She looked at the man and then at the purse she was holding, raising an eyebrow, "Are you sure?" she said.
"Oh ,no. It's...it's not mine," He said quickly, briefly distracted by the woman's beauty, "I was just..."
"Megara, what happened?!" Maria said as she walked out of the store and picked up one of her garments off the ground. Meg tossed the purse to Herc and started picking up the scattered clothes. Maria noticed the look on his face as he helped her daughter gather the bags.
"What is your name, young man?"
"Hercules, ma'am." He answered.
Maria thought for a moment, "Your that man from Thebes, right? The one that Creon is supposed to meet. I'm Maria, his wife."
End Chap 6.

Chap. 7.
Hercules gave them a small bow, "It's a pleasure to meet you, your highness."
Meg stood behind her mother with an annoyed expression on her face. She didn't like it when people treated her like royalty. As far as Meg was concerned, Creon was not her father and she was certainly not a princess. But before she could say anything, a white horse with a plump satyr on it's back trotted up to Herc and gave him a friendly lick.
"This is my friend Peguses..." he gestured to the horse, "and Phil, my trainer. Would you mind taking us to the palace? We're a little lost."
Maria smiled at him. "Of course. Oh,..." She put an arm around Meg's shoulders. "and this is my daughter, Megara."
It was Herc's turn to smile, "Hello, your high..."
"Just call me Meg. If you want to go to the palace your going to carry these." She smiled back and held the shopping bags out to him.
"Hey, he ain't your servant. He's a hero!" Phil said angrily. "Really, it's no problem." Herc said, taking the bags from her. Phil grumbled under his breath but didn't say anything more.
"A hero, huh?" Meg said, slightly impressed.
Herc blushed, "Well, uh...yeah."
Maria looked from Herc to Meg and back again, "Why don't we talk back at the palace."
~Back at the palace~
Meg turned the key in the lock and slowly opened the back door. After making sure that there weren't any guards around, she motioned for the others to follow.
"Why are we using the back door?" Herc asked, setting the bags on the floor.
"Um...," Meg nervously looked at her mother. She didn't want him to tell Creon that they left the palace. She winced as she remembered the last time they angered the king.
"Uh, the king won't be here until tomorrow." Maria said, changing the subject,"I'm sure he won't mind if you used one of the guest rooms. Meg, could you put the clothes away please?"
"Yeah, sure." she answered. Meg picked them up and hurried down the hall, eager to get out of the situation. Back in her room, she took off her dress and put her green gown back on. After checking herself in the mirror, she went downstairs to find her mother in the living room talking with the man from Thebes. What was his name?, she thought as she walked in the room.
Hercules stood to greet her. She noticed that he had taken off his cape. He was wearing bronze armor and a belt with a gold medallion in it. He was well muscled but had a gentle look about him.
"Hello, Meg." He said with a small smile.
"Hello,..." what is his name?!, "sir." Meg sat on the couch next to her mother.
"Sir Hercules was just telling me about his adventures as a hero." Maria said, nudging Meg with her elbow. She rolled her eyes, knowing what her mother was trying to do.
End Chap. 7.
This isn't how I planned to end this chapter but I have to go and bake something. I'll finish it tomorrow.

Chap. 8.
They talked with the young hero about his many adventures until sunset.
"Are you hungry, mister Hercules?" Maria asked as they made their way to the kitchen. "I'm afraid most of our servants left with the king but I'll be more than happy to make you something myself."
"If it isn't to much trouble." Herc said politely, glancing at Meg who was trying (unsuccessfully) to take the fruit bowl away from Phil.
"She didn't ask if you were hungry." She said as she finally snatched the bowl away. He was about to protest when Maria cleared her throat.
"Megara, please respect our guests." She looked at the satyr. "Mister Philoctites, would you like something to eat?"
Phil glared at Meg and nodded. They all sat around the table; Maria and Phil at the ends, Meg and Herc on each side, facing each other. They enjoyed a simple dinner and conversation.
"I'll send some oats out for your horse." Maria said as they finished their meal.
"Uh, he prefers birdseed, Your Highness."
"Oh, well, birdseed it is then. Will you assist me, mister Philoctites?" Meg got up, "I can...," She started.
"That's alright. Stay here and keep mister Hercules company." Phil glared at Meg again, knowing better than to argue with royalty. He sent another look in Herc's direction and followed the queen out of the dining room.
After a moment of awkward silence, Herc spoke, "So, where are you from?"
Meg hesitated, "Spain. My mother and I immigrated here two years ago." She didn't like to talk about their past with anyone, especially men. She had Creon to thank for that. He had been nothing but abusive and hateful towards her since she first moved into the palace. She didn't know if he had ever hurt her mother but he wouldn't hesitate to hit her if she got out of line. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the memories.
"Meg, are you okay?"
She opened her eyes to see a look of concern on his face. "Yeah, i'm fine. Just...tired."
"Maybe you should get some rest. I'll wait here for your mom."
A lump formed in her throat, "Thanks. Good night." She quickly left the room before he could see her tears.
End Chap. 8.

Chap. 9.
A loud noise woke Meg from her sleep. She sat up and looked around the room, trying to figure out where she was. The palace, she thought, a feeling of dread coming over her. Not that she expected to be anywhere else, though the thought of running away crept into her mind every once in a while. No, as long as her mother was here, this is where she would stay.
She got dressed and opened the curtains, letting the light shine into her room. She heard the noise again. It was a voice, a mans voice, coming from downstairs. It was the voice of the king, echoing down the large hallways to her room. Meg thought of staying in her room but, judging from the tone of his voice, Creon seemed to be in a good mood. She slowly opened her door and listened to the kings hearty laugh. Definitely in a good mood.. She followed the noise downstairs; into the kings quarters. She stopped at the closed door to listen.
~inside the king's quarters~
"Going one-on-one with a hydra?! That is amazing!" Said the king from behind his desk.
"It was nothing, really." Herc replied modestly. He looked around the lavishly decorated room. His villa in Thebes paled in comparison to the tall windows and gold-decorated furniture of Creons palace. Even the guest room he had stayed in was adorned with silk sheets and curtains. And yet, there was something wrong. Among the marble columns and artwork, there was something cold. Not the way a home should feel at all; and most certainly not the home of a king. Then again, he could just be imagining things.
"How long will you be staying in Thrace?" asked the king, leaning back in his chair.
"We're only supposed to be staying for a day, sir." Phil replied, "And we're already a day behind schedule."
Creon rubbed the stubble on his chin, "Well, maybe you could stay for one more. At least long enough for me to gather some of my friends and colleagues so they can meet you. That is the point of this 'tour', isn't it? You're more than welcome to stay here another night, then you can leave first thing tomorrow." Herc looked at Phil for approval. The satyr shrugged his shoulders, "Alright. One more day."
The king shook both of their hands and dismissed them.
End Chap. 9.
